On 5 June 2019, we organised a second big Protest for Publicly-owned Buses outside the Scottish Parliament, demanding that MSPs from the Rural Economy & Connectivity (REC) Committee back our two amendments at the second stage of the Transport Bill.
The first of these would allow everyone in Scotland to have an arms-length publicly-owned bus company like Edinburgh’s Lothian Buses. The second would allow every council in Scotland to run their own bus services directly.
On 12 June 2019, the REC Committee MSPs voted in favour of both these amendments. A massive win for the campaign!
The Transport Bill goes into its final stage in October 2019. We’ll be campaigning to #ProtectThePowers and ensure that publicly-owned buses become a reality for everyone in Scotland.
