Time To Take Back Our Buses

On 30 May 2019, First Bus announced they were selling their UK operations. We decided it was Time to Take Back Our Buses.

So on 19 June 2019, we launched our petition asking Glasgow City Council leader, Susan Aitken, to buy back First Glasgow’s assets and to deliver a publicly-owned bus company that serves everyone in our region. This received more than 3,500 signatures in its first week.

Then on 27 June 2019, Glasgow City Council approved a motion requiring officers to โ€˜investigate further what the process of acquiring and operating bus operational assets could involveโ€™.

Seven months later, on 29 January 2020, we handed the petition to Susan Aitken with 7,093 signatures and asked for a meeting to get an update on these ‘investigations’.
