The next year is crucial in our long-running fight to take our buses back into public control.
So we’re joining forces with trade unions, environmental groups, health charities, students and pensioners associations and more, to launch the new region-wide campaign: Better Buses for Strathclyde.
Please share the petition widely with your networks as we need to reach people in all 12 local authorities within the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) area. Share on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
The first phase of the campaign runs from today until March 2024 – when the SPT Board are due to make a decision on whether to use the new powers in the Transport Act 2019 and proceed with taking our buses back into public control.
Our first of many Better Buses for Strathclyde Days of Action takes place at Buchanan Bus Station on Saturday 21 October, 11am-3pm. We’ll have 10,000 new campaign flyers ready for people to collect and take back to their local areas to distribute. Please come down and join us!
Another date for your diary – we’re really excited to be working with Centre for Cities on a new report on transforming public transport in our region. We are holding a special launch event at Glasgow City Chambers on Wednesday 25 October, 5-7pm. Please register to attend here.
